Supporting members of the St. Louis Peace Corps Community; past, present, and future.
The St. Louis Peace Corps Association is a group of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) living in the greater St. Louis area. The group also supports individuals interested in serving in the Peace Corps, as well as the friends and families of future and currently-serving Peace Corps Volunteers.
Since the Peace Corps was established in 1961, over 3,000 Missourians have answered the call to service, representing the United States in countries around the world.
President Kennedy and Sargent Shriver, founding director of Peace Corps, greet several members of the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers. These volunteers departed for Tanganyika (now Tanzania) and Ghana in August of 1961, just months after President Kennedy signed the Executive Order creating the Peace Corps.
